Classical Gas' Archive
perspective
  • We all have differing experiences to share here. Have you been to a museum in Europe or an old Church in New England that you would like to describe to us?

Do you like to sing in the shower?

Have you ever played an instrument?

Tap danced or seen a ballet performance?

Examined a Rose or field of flowers?

Roller skated or ice skated or watched same on the TV or telly?

Who is a "Master Painter" that you enjoy?

Do you enjoy "antiquing"? Do you dream in colour??

Come now we need more articles.

I for one would love to hear from all members. Whatever has been your experience, if it has any relation at all to the "Classics", please tell us so that we may learn and comment or ask questions. And by the way, you as the author need not know all of the answers. Who among us does? Just put things up for discussion.

There are so many ideas here I cannot even touch upon them all.

Think it over, you have something or some things to offer this group.

We are a mighty group but strong, and growing in numbers! All here to learn. We have no experts here.

And if you are a little "off" the suggested time period, that's OK.

It's beauty tamed the beast..............in all of us, no?

Here we come to relax into each others experiences. There aren't many rules. Just a place to hang out and relax.

Let's "hear it" for de-stressing after a long day. Now there, doesn't that feel better already? Thought so..........LOL

I am fascinated with the different interpretations of portions of Leo Delibes opera Lakme, from the slide shows, to the recital by the two young girls, to the opera performance enhanced by the three dimensional, to the tribute through dance to the late ballet dancer Rudolph Nureyev. They are offered for your listening and viewing pleasure, in no particular order, so that you may find the one that suits you.

The rough translation of the French words into English are:

    Under the dense canopy
    Where the white jasmine
    Blends with the rose
    On the flowering bank
    Laughing at the morning
Come, let us drift down together
    Let us gently glide along
    With the enchanting flow
    Of the fleeing current
    On the rippling surface
    With a lazy hand
    Let us reach the shore
    Where the source sleeps
    And the bird sings
    Under the dense canopy
    Under the white jasmine
    Let us drift down together

The opera was first performed circa 1883. It has since become highly recognizable through commercial promotions, and in various other modern-day usages.

  • Well Tony Williams and I got to exchanging posts on one of his recent articles over the last couple of days. Out of our discussions, an idea was born for a Newsvine Group. It was so much fun that we kind of decided on an immediate collaboration and have created the group named "Classical Gas".

This is a public group, with very few rules.

It centers around the time period of the 1600's (AD) to the 1950's (AD). Yeah, I just thought I might put "AD" addition in. If it applied to BC, now we would all be doing a WHOLE LOT OF RESEARCH HERE, now wouldn't we? LOL

No, this is for lovers of the classics. It is also for people who might want to learn more about the classics from this period of history.

It's a place to learn, teach, and most of all share. It's meant to be a place to escape all of the racket of city life, noisy supermarkets, traffic lights, work deadlines, endless commutes, unemployment, politics of the day, etc.

The best way to learn about this group is to go in and take a look at the group guidelines.

If you are interested, then put in your request to join. There are no pre-requisites, just a desire to explore all of the Classical Expressions which exploded during this period of time.

So, as with any group you are posting to, do be aware of the group guidelines. If this is an area of interest or potential interest to you, then please send a request.

If it's not for you down the road, you can always cancel out of the group.

Seeds and articles, downloads of video and other submissions, are all encouraged.

Let's all have a good time and have another fun place to relax!! Check us out.
